Government has the solution – Vaishnav
Vaishnav said that today the government has a solution to verify the age of children. Today, the country has a good digital infrastructure including Aadhaar, payment system and digitization, which is better than many rich countries. He told that the age of children will be verified through virtual tokens.
Government can adopt this method
The government has suggested the method of virtual token for this. Under this, online sites will have to accept the token of the user’s ID. In this way, these sites will not be able to see the full record of the ID and the information of the users will remain safe. Vaishnav also said that companies will be asked to delete this token after it is used. Let us tell you that payment gateways also use tokenism for credit card information. Even if this token falls into the hands of a hacker or a scammer, the real credit card information remains hidden from them.
Fine up to Rs 250 crore will be imposed for violation of rules
There is a provision for strict penalty for violation of rules in the new law. If any social media company opens the accounts of children below 18 years of age without parental consent, then strict action will be taken against it if a complaint is made. If found guilty, he may face a fine of up to Rs 250 crore.
