This is what the world’s first dinosaur looked like, the first bone was found here, it walked like humans!

20 February 1824. 200 years ago, a new Geological Society was formed in Oxford University, London. The first professor of Geology was William Buckland who told the world that there used to be creatures like dinosaurs which looked like huge lizards. He named this creature Megalosaurus, i.e. Great Lizard. So now the question arises that how did they come to know about this creature?

According to CNN’s report, William found a fossil of a creature which was actually its lower jaw. When they studied it, they named it Megalosaurus. This name was coined about 20 years before the name dinosaur (first ever dinosaur). This fossil was found lying in the local mines of Britain. At that time no one knew about this creature. Looking at the teeth of the creature, they guessed that it must have been a carnivore. He also estimated that the creature would have been 40 feet tall, or about 12 meters, and would have walked on all four legs. According to them, Megalosaurus would have lived both in water and on land.

These creatures walked on 2 legs
Richard Owen, founder and scientist of the Natural History Museum of London, named these creatures Dinosaur for the first time. At that time, during 1854, a statue of this creature was made in Crystal Park, London, in which it was seen standing on all four legs. But later, when more research was done, it was revealed that this creature used to walk on 2 legs and not 4, that is, like humans walk. Today’s scientists believe that these creatures used to be up to 6 meters long.

existed 16 crore years ago
According to the National History Museum, these dinosaurs existed in the Bathonian period, that is, they existed about 160 million years ago. According to CNN, till now scientists have discovered about 1000 species of dinosaurs. In the 1990s, fossils of dinosaurs were found which had feathers. From this it seemed that today’s birds also evolved from these dinosaurs. Megalosaurus has been seen and studied about for a long time. Charles Dickens also mentioned this dinosaur in his novel named Bleak House.
