The specialty of this tree, known as Chalto Amba (walking mango), is that it has moved several meters away from its original place.

You must be thinking that the tree can also move somewhere? But it is 100 percent true. There are many mango groves in Valsad district of Gujarat, which we also call orchards. This historical mango tree is present here in Sanjan. Seeing many features, the government declared this tree a heritage tree in 2011. It is one of the 50 heritage trees of Gujarat. The forest department inspects it morning and evening. Thousands of people from all over the world come to see it.

1300 year old tree
The elders living here tell that this mango tree is 1300 years old and has moved up to 200 meters in the last 250 years. At present the owner of this tree, Mohammad Osef Wali Miyan Achhu told that this tree is in the Wadi since before his birth. He takes care of it since childhood. He said, I had also heard from my father Wali Miyan Ahmed that this is going on for centuries.

Forest department also considered it a wonder
The Social Forestry Department has put up a board near the tree, in which information has been given that it is a heritage tree. It has also been written that in the last 20 to 25 years, this tree has moved about three to four meters from its original place i.e. 10 years. Has moved in east direction up to Ft. According to officials, normally the tree grows upwards. But this tree is also growing parallel to the ground along with above. The twigs grow slightly above the ground and grow in an oblique direction. Gradually they start sinking into the ground and become trees. After this mangoes grow in it and the branch of the old tree dries up. Its mango is very tasty and turns red when ripe. The Forest Department did a thorough research on this but nothing special was found.

According to experts, Sanjan Tola on the sea coast is believed to have been settled by Parsi immigrants when they applied for asylum in Gujarat in 936. He must have planted this plant. According to historians, the Parsis may have called the hamlet after Sanjan in their native city of Greater Khorasan. The tribals living here worship it. This is the center of his devotion. No one harms it. It is said that local people use mango leaves and peel of the tree for stomach ache, diabetes and claim that it also cures them.
