Dilip Chaubey/Kaimur: You might have eaten many types of rice, but the people who have eaten the rice about which we are going to tell you, their mouths start watering as soon as they hear its name. While reading the news, your mouth might start watering and you too might feel like eating this rice. Actually, Govind Bhog rice prepared in Mokri village under Bhabua block of Kaimur district of Bihar is very special in itself. This is a very special variety of rice and the aroma of this rice will fascinate you. Local people also call it Sonachur rice. This is a very special type of rice and its paddy is produced only in this area.
If this rice is being prepared somewhere, the entire atmosphere becomes fragrant. It is in great demand due to its very special taste and aroma. People are forced to ask and express their desire to get this rice. Farmer Dev Muni Patel told that Mokri village is situated on the mountain near the temple of Mundeshwari Mata. It is believed that every year the rain water touches the place of Mother Goddess from the mountain and reaches the village fields carrying the mountain herbs with it. The fields are irrigated with the same water. That’s why the grains here are more aromatic.
Mother Mundeshwari has special blessings on this rice.
Farmer Dev Muni Patel told that this special paddy is cultivated in Sigura and Parasia Siwan situated on the west side of Mokri village. The world famous paddy is grown in these fields. From which Sonachur and Govind Bhog rice is prepared. When water comes to the fields from the mountains, it comes along with the mountain herbs. He told that there is only one crop in a year in the fields of Sigura and Parasia Siwan area. Rabi crop is not sown here. The paddy grown in the field is not cut from the bottom along with the stalk, only the ear of paddy is cut. The farmers here prepare rice from the same paddy, eat and sell it. The stalk lying in the field rots and is plowed. The stalk lying in the field also works as fertilizer. It can be called a blessing of nature that without eating this rice its specialty cannot be felt. Both the aroma and taste of this rice are amazing. The people here consider it to be the grace of Mother Mundeshwari.
