If you think that the most dangerous creatures in the world are viruses. So perhaps you are not aware of the dangers of fungus. For scientists, fungi are more mysterious than viruses. Many scientists have warned that a more dangerous disaster than the virus can come to the world through fungus. Recently, a strange fungus is in the news which does not cause any harm, but definitely looks dangerous. This alien like fungus is called ‘Devil’s Fingers’. It was recently spotted in the New Forest in the United Kingdom, smelling “like rotten flesh” and had a terrifying looking hand that seemed to come straight out of a grave.
Who saw this just now?
It was discovered by Julia Rosser, a retired teacher. “It looked bigger than any hand I’d ever seen before,” Rosser, 67, said, reports the Daily Mail. It seemed as if it was coming out of the grave. It looked very scary.” This fungus is usually found in late October, but due to wet weather it has started appearing earlier.
Where do you get this?
“I found Devil’s Fingers in about the same area last year, so I was looking for them,” Rosser said. “They come out of the ground with these red tentacles or fingers.” This strange looking fungus also has other names like “Octopus Stinkhorn” or “Octopus Fungus”. This fungus is native to New Zealand and Australia and is believed to have been taken to France as part of military supplies during World War I.

It seems to grow like a tree, but it doesn’t
According to experts, the fungus hatches from an “egg” which is sticky and gelatinous in nature and as it grows, its tentacle-like arms start coming out. It is easy to identify due to its bright red color. This is very rare in the United Kingdom.
Sometimes they may look beautiful, but due to their bad smell no one thinks of eating them. Whereas in reality they are not even poisonous. Their size can be 5-7 cm high. But the spread could be even bigger than this.
