It is believed that whoever comes to this fair, first of all has to offer coconut paan batasha at the temple. Only after this he roams around the fair and buys things and goes home.
Rajkumar Tiwari, priest of Baidehi Baba temple, while talking to Local 18, says that this place belongs to the era of kings. A king had come here and started living alone in this forest. After some time he took samadhi alive. Today the temple is also built on top of this mausoleum. Any snakebite patient who comes here gets cured. Even today, people coming here get his blessings. Let us tell you, a snake god also lives at this place, who is looked after by the priest.
The fair is more than 100 years old
The priest tells that a fair has been organized here for 100 years. This fair has been organized since ancestors. Thousands and lakhs of devotees come to this fair every day. The belief of this place is that whoever sets foot on this earth has to first circumambulate around Bidehi Baba Maharaj. After this there is a tradition of offering coconut paan batasha. Then there is the belief of visiting the fair here. More people come here to see Bidehi Baba Maharaj than to see the fair. People come to this fair not only from MP but also from UP.
If you are bitten by a snake, this is how it is treated.
According to priest Rajkumar Tiwari, if someone is bitten by a snake, then first of all he should tie a knot in his hair by saying Jai Baideh Baba, after that drink ghee and black pepper but do not drink water. Immediately after this, come to Baidehi Baba temple and circumambulate by chanting Baba ki Jai. No matter how poisonous a snake bites him, Baba will save him.
No person died of snakebite after coming here
According to priest Rajkumar, if any snake patient has come here alive then it has left here alive. Every day 20-25 snakebite patients come and recover. Many times they come even at night, then we also run away from home and come to the temple and get the treatment done by doing parikrama.
