People in Siwan, Bihar enjoy the taste of chaat with great interest. People here mainly like pea chaat, potato chaat, tikki chaat. But the most famous is tomato chaat. It is prepared in a special way. People are crazy about it. Babu Ram’s chaat shop located at Tithra Bazaar on Mairwa-Siwan main road has been operating for the last 30 years. It is famous for the spicy and tasty tomato chaat prepared here. People from far off places also stop here to taste the chaat. A huge crowd of people eating chaat is seen here in the late evening.
The shop owner told that the tomato chaat prepared here is available throughout the year. It does not matter whether tomatoes are expensive or cheap. In case tomatoes are not available, they are brought from Banaras, Deoria and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. 15 to 20 kg of tomatoes are consumed every day. The secret of the taste of tomato chaat is the spicy chutney and chickpeas added in it. Which enhances the taste of tomato chaat and makes customers its fan. This is the reason why 200 to 300 plates of chaat are sold here every day.
It takes only 3 hours to open a chaat shop
You will be surprised to know that Baburam’s chaat shop is open daily from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. But here the chaat gets sold out in just 3 hours and the shop has to be closed. Babu Ram Sah says that the crowd of customers for tomato chaat starts gathering after 3 pm. The maximum crowd is between 4 and 5 pm. People eat the chaat and also get it packed and take it home. The price of one plate of tomato chaat is 25 rupees.
Tomato chaat is made delicious with this trick
Babu Ram Sah told that after cleaning tomatoes, they cut them and fill them with potato masala. After this, they fry them in hot oil in a pan. After this, they cut tomato squares into squares and stuff them with spicy Kambli Chola and serve it to people with a mixture of spices and spicy chutney prepared at home. Tomato chaat is a mixture of vegetables, spices, cardamom and spicy chutney, while chilli, tomato, ginger, mint and other things are added to the chutney.
