Those cannibal tribals, who used to eat humans, did not even spare their parents, they just did not eat this ‘bitter’ part!

The customs of tribes (Weird Traditions Around The World) are completely different from the common people. Especially if we talk about African tribes, people are stunned to hear their customs and rituals. One such tribe found in Papua New Guinea has a different kind of tradition. Here people used to eat the same people whom they loved very much.

You might have hardly heard of someone eating his own family members. However, the tribe we are going to tell you about today, they did not even spare their parents and used to eat them. According to the report of Daily Star, the people of a tribe named Four used to eat their loved ones completely as a last rite, leaving only one part of the body, which is very bitter.

People eat those they love!
The people of a tribe named Fore live in the Okapa district of Papua New Guinea. Until the 1960s, there was a tradition in their tribe that they used to eat their relatives after their death instead of cremating or burying them. According to them, this was not a disgusting act, rather they said that it was better for them to eat them than let insects eat them. If someone did not want this to happen after his death, he could have told them while he was alive. However, most people considered it an honor to be eaten by their family after their death.

Let’s leave out just one part…
An Australian named Lindenbaum told that the Fore people eat the entire body of the dead person, but leave one part. The reason for this is that this part is very bitter. The gall bladder present inside the body is so bitter that even the people of the cannibal tribe leave it. Yes, after the death of women, only the women of the house can eat them. Lindenbaum stayed with them during the 1960-70s during the study and to a large extent, she was successful in getting people away from this tradition.

Actually it is a disease…
In the 1950s, anthropologist Shirley Lindenbaum discovered that this tradition of the tribe’s people is actually a mental illness called Kuru. She told the Daily Star that when they were asked why do you people do this to the body? They replied – we ate them. Kuru is an incurable neurological condition, which almost shuts down the nervous system. It is believed that it may have come from eating the brain of a person suffering from an infection, which spread to others as well and became a tradition.
