There is no shortage of tea enthusiasts around the world. In India, tea ranges from 10 rupees to hundred rupees. But tea is very expensive abroad. But have you ever thought that someone can lose 433 crores in exchange for a thousand rupees tea? You must be surprised to hear, but let us know that one such strange case has come up in California of America. Popular coffee and tea shop starbucks had to pay Rs 433 crore for a person in exchange for earning a thousand rupees.
The incident took place on 8 February 2020 in a Starbucks Drive-Through in Los Angeles. Actually, Michael Garcia, who worked as postmates delivery driver, reached Starbucks, three ‘Medicine Ball’ Tea. He was given tea in a cardboard career from drive-through. But as soon as he caught a career, a cup of tea fell on his lap. Tea was so hot that their private part and some body parts were burnt. After this, Garcia was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he had to undergo skin grafting surgery several times. According to his lawyers, he suffered a permanent injury due to this accident, causing pain, burning, physical damage and mental trauma. Since the packing of tea was not done well, due to which Starbucks had to pay such a big compensation.
When the video of the case came on social media, it went viral and people started giving various reactions. Garcia’s lawyers say that the Starbax employee did not close the tea lid properly, causing this accident. Due to this incident, Starbucks says about the pain, mental stress and physical problems that Garcia has been struggling for the last five years, ‘We have been sympathetic to Garcia, but it does not believe that it was our fault. We feel that this compensation is very high. After the appeal of Starbucks, it has to be seen what the next decision of the court comes. Will the compensation amount be reduced or will this decision be maintained?
Big compensation has been given earlier also
The court has currently imposed a compensation of 433 crores on Starbucks. However, what will happen next about the compensation amount put on Starbucks, it is a matter of seeing. But even before this, big compensation has been imposed on many companies. In April 2023, an employee of JP Morgan in New York was given a compensation of $ 35 million (about 292 crore rupees) when a glass door broke and fell on him and suffered a serious mind injury.
