Chaitra Navratri has started today i.e. Tuesday 9 April 2024 from Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. In Sanatan Dharma, Hindu New Year also starts from this day, which is celebrated as Gudi Padwa. In the scriptures, there is a rule to worship and worship nine different goddesses for nine days during Chaitra Navratri. During this period, people also observe fast in many homes. But today we are going to tell you a unique thing. Actually, can you imagine that tigers would also be fasting? There is a zoo in the world where tigers fast for one day a week.
Tiger’s Fast
Let us tell you that tigers eat non-vegetarian food. Known for. But in the Central Zoo of Nepal, tigers are not given meat for a day. According to BBC report, this is done in the Central Zoo of Nepal. Here tigers are deliberately kept hungry for a day. Zoo’s information officer Ganesh Koirala had told a few days ago that to improve their health, these carnivorous creatures should be given a ‘fast’ every Saturday. Is kept on. During this period, not a single piece of meat is given to the tiger.
The reason for keeping the tigers hungry
Many people might be thinking that Zoos do this to save their budget. But this is not true. Actually the reason behind this is very special. Zoo’s information officer Ganesh Koirala said that the tigers neither have any problem in food nor do they face any problem in living in the zoo. But there is a special reason behind keeping them hungry. We keep them on fast to prevent them from becoming overweight. Usually, the female tiger is given 5 kg of buffalo meat and the male tiger is given 6 kg of buffalo meat every day, but nothing is given to them on Saturday. By doing this, their digestive system becomes stronger.
According to experts, when tigers become fat, all kinds of problems related to their health start. A layer of fat starts accumulating under their stomach. Not only this, they get tired while running. Due to which they are not able to hunt. During this time it is easy to control them with medicine, but this is not a good method. Keeping them on fast improves their health. If carnivorous animals do not eat food even for a day, their health improves significantly.
