Tirupati Balaji mandir Laddu row according to shastra atonement method for killing or eating cow

Tirupati Laddu row: Tirupati Balaji Temple of Andhra Pradesh is the center of faith for crores of Hindus across the country. Recently, adulteration of animal fat in the laddus offered as prasad in the temple came to light. It is being told that the ghee used in Tirupati Balaji’s laddus also had beef mixed in it.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan told the media that, at the time of Ramlala’s Pran Pratishtha (Ram Mandir), one lakh Laddus were sent from Tirupati Balaji to Ayodhya. This means that almost everyone has been directly or indirectly contaminated by this injustice.

Cow has a supreme place in Hinduism

Although you did not do this act intentionally, therefore your sin will be counted in very small amount. But if you realize your mistake, you must definitely do penance for it. Because in Hinduism, the place of cow is considered to be of the highest order. According to the scriptures, 33 crore gods reside in the cow and we worship the cow like a god. Therefore, killing a cow and eating its meat is a punishable act, which is like a great sin. Therefore, to get rid of this sin, atonement will have to be done which is described in our scriptures. Let us know the process of atonement from the scriptures-

Method of Chandrayan fast, Parak fast and Padakrichchhra fast for atonement

Chandrayan Vrat:– Chandrayan Vrat is an ancient fast, which is related to the phases of the moon. It is a religious belief that by doing this, one gets atonement for all kinds of sins. In this, one has to reduce one morsel of food in Krishna Paksha and increase one morsel of food in Shukla Paksha and one should take bath three times a day. Or first increase one morsel of food in Shukla Paksha and reduce one morsel of food daily in Krishna Paksha. Do not eat at all on Amavasya. This is the method of Chandrayan Vrat. At the end of the fast, perform Yagya etc. and donate.

Paraak Vrat:– This is a difficult fasting process, in which fasting is observed for 12 days. This ‘Parak Vrat’ is completed by fasting for twelve days and nights continuously and by donating 2, 3 or 5 cows or imaginary money worth Rs. 10000. Parak Vrat is also mentioned in Manusmriti, Bodhayan Dharma Sutra, Yagyavalkya Smriti, Shankh Smriti, Atri Smriti, Agni Purana, Vishnu Purana and Skanda Purana.

Parako naam krichhroyaam sarvapaapapanodanah

Meaning: By observing this fast by controlling the senses and abstaining from food for 12 days with a steady mind, all kinds of sins are destroyed.

Padakruchchhra fast – It is prescribed to observe fast for three days. One day in the morning, one day in the evening, one day without any food and one day of fasting completes the ‘Paadakruchchhra’ fast.

Apart from this, there is another alternative, Taptakrachra Vrat. According to Agni Purana, chapter number 168, you should observe Taptakrachra Vrat after eating beef. This is also mentioned in Gautam Smriti. (Taptkrichchhare charan vipro jalakshiraghritanilaan).

Method of Taptkrichchhra fast- By drinking 6 palas (350 grams) of hot water for 3 days, 3 palas of hot milk for 3 days, 1 pala of hot ghee for 3 days and hot air (steam of boiling water) for three days; or by drinking 3 palas of hot water, 2 palas of hot milk and 1 pala of hot ghee for 3 days each and fasting for 3 days, or by heating all the three together and drinking for one day and fasting for one day, one becomes ‘Taptakrichchu’.

If beef is fed unknowingly, by deceit or by force, then one rule is that one can become pure by merely doing purifying rituals. All those acts done by force are considered invalid in the scriptures.

(Baladattam Balad Bhuktam Baladyachhapi Lekhitam. Sarvanvalkritanarthankritanmanurbravit ll 168 ll). But if the thought of atonement comes in the mind (because atonement can be done in any case) then one should do Taptakrcchhra fast or follow the method of atonement as per Deval Smriti which is mentioned in this article.
