To make dal, one cup of chana dal, quarter cup of moong dal, four medium size tomatoes, one large size onion cut into two pieces, four green chilies whole cut from the middle, five cloves of garlic, one big black cardamom, two Take bay leaves, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric, salt as per taste, a pinch of asafoetida and two cups of water. Recipe to make Dal Fry Tadka
To make dal fry tadka, first of all wash and clean chana dal and moong dal thoroughly with water. Then put it in the cooker and put tomatoes, onions, green chillies, garlic, black cardamom, bay leaf, turmeric, salt, asafoetida and two cups of water along with it in the cooker. Now stir all these things once with the help of a spoon, then close the lid of the cooker and put it on the gas, give two to three whistles and melt the lentils. Now remove the lid of the cooker and separate the black cardamom, bay leaves and tomato peels from the dal and mash them a little while running the dal.

Then heat butter in a pan for tempering and add cumin, chopped garlic, whole red chilies, a pinch of asafoetida and cook for half a minute. Now add kasoori methi to it and cook it for a few seconds. Then add Kashmiri red chillies and add finely chopped ginger to it and fry them for a few seconds. Now turn off the gas and mix this tempering well by turning it in the lentils.
