Maximum temperature below normal in Punjab and Haryana
It is extremely cold in Punjab and Haryana and the maximum temperature in both the states was recorded below normal on Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department, visibility was reduced due to dense fog in the morning at many places in both the states. The maximum temperature recorded in Chandigarh was 17.4 degrees Celsius. The day temperature in Amritsar, Punjab was recorded at 16.7 degrees Celsius, while in Ludhiana it was 16 degrees Celsius. Patiala recorded a maximum temperature of 16.1 degrees Celsius, while Faridkot and Mohali recorded 17.5 degrees Celsius and 17.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
At the same time, it was extremely cold during the day at most places in Haryana. The maximum temperature in Ambala, Haryana was recorded at 15.8 degrees Celsius, while it was 13.6 degrees Celsius in Hisar, 13 degrees Celsius in Karnal, 12.2 degrees Celsius in Rohtak, 13.4 degrees Celsius in Sirsa and 13.2 degrees Celsius in Gurugram.
