Animal Husbandry Schemes: India is an agricultural country. 60% of the population here is dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. When we say agriculture, it includes crop production, horticulture and forestry as well as animal husbandry, dairy business, poultry and fish farming. Today farmers are joining these animal husbandry activities to earn extra income along with farming. The increasing demand for milk, eggs and meat in the country and abroad has attracted youth and professionals from farmers towards these works.
Now people in villages as well as cities are moving towards these activities. The good thing is that the central government also provides cooperation in these works from the farmers to the general public. For this, the government has also run many schemes.
Today we will tell you about those schemes, by joining which you can not only reduce the cost of animal husbandry, dairy farming, poultry farming and fish farming by half, but can also get very good profits.
Rashtriya Gokul Mission
Raising the slogan of Swadeshi, indigenous products are being promoted in the country. Meanwhile, the government has also understood the potential of indigenous livestock and has started the Rashtriya Gokul Mission to promote indigenous breeds of cattle.
Through this scheme, not only the conservation and promotion of indigenous animals is being promoted, but in view of the increasing demand for milk in the country, small farmers are being linked to this scheme. If you also want to earn good income by rearing indigenous breeds, then you can apply for Rashtriya Gokul Mission.
Dairy Development National Program
The business of dairy farming is skyrocketing amid the increasing demand for milk and milk products. Now, along with the farmers, the youth-professionals of the cities are also joining the dairy business. To help the farmers in this work, the government has started the Dairy Development National Program.
Under this scheme, technical and financial assistance is provided to the farmers doing dairy farming. Not only this, the scheme also includes improving the quality of milk, promoting milk procurement and improving the breed of milk producing animals.
For all these works, training and technical guidance is also given to the farmers. District Animal Husbandry Department, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Milk Producer Companies, State Milk Union and District Milk Union also help the farmers and cattle herders in this work. If you also want to take advantage of this scheme, then you can contact the Animal Husbandry Department office of your district.
National Livestock Mission
The National Livestock Mission was launched in the year 2014 by the Union Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. Today lakhs of farmers can get the benefit of this scheme. Through this scheme, from large milch cattle like cow-buffalo to goat, pig, rabbit, sheep and poultry farming are promoted.
Animal feed based enterprises are also supported in this scheme. The main objective of this scheme is to improve the productivity of animals along with breed improvement in the field of animal husbandry, so that employment of farmers and professionals is created and rural economy is strengthened.
Explain that three sub-missions are also included under this scheme, in which sub-mission on breed development of livestock and poultry, sub-mission on fodder and fodder development, sub-mission on research and development, livestock insurance expansion and innovation, etc.
Livestock Insurance Scheme
The way farmers have to face a lot of uncertainty in farming. Similarly, animal husbandry is also a business of uncertainties. Small animals come in the price of thousands, then in the business of big animals like cow buffalo, lakhs of rupees have to be invested.
Contrary to this, many times animals become ill or animals die suddenly due to disease, weather, accident, then farmers or animal herders get trapped in economic crisis. Livestock Insurance Scheme is being run to provide financial security to the farmers from such situations.
Under this scheme, all the animals falling under the category of milch cattle and livestock are insured. In which 50 to 70% subsidy is given on the amount of insurance. There is a rule to give claims up to Rs 50,000 in this scheme.
Today, diseases like lumpy, bird flu are dominating the animals, due to which it has become extremely important to ensure economic security to the livestock as well as to the livestock owners. In such a situation, Livestock Insurance Scheme is proving very helpful.
