20437 registered (Toto) e-rickshaws are creating disruption in the traffic system of the religious and tourist city of Kashi. There is no fear left even after seizing 15-20 e-rickshaws and issuing 20-30 challans daily, which are causing jams at 10 major intersections and 10 areas. About 800 illegal e-rickshaws are also running in the streets and colonies.
E-rickshaws are the biggest hindrance in the traffic system on Assi-Jangambadi road, Church Square-New Road and Lanka-Samneghat road, Cantt-English Line Tiraha and Maidagin-Visheshwarganj, City Station and Nakkighat road, Bhojubir-Ardali Bazaar road and Pandeypur intersection. Are delivering. Apart from this, in areas like Roadways Cantt, Paradekothi Marg, Bhelupur, Kamchha, Kabirchaura, Jagatganj, Ramkatora, Sundarpur-Khojwa, Pandeypur intersection, Pahadia and Nati Imli, there is jam from morning till night due to haphazard parking and operation of e-rickshaws. The situation persists. Registration of e-rickshaw is also increasing month by month.
Toto driving vegetable and fruit shops leaving wages behind
According to the traffic police, the number of e-rickshaw drivers is increasing. Those who earlier used to run fruit, vegetable, chaat shops or work as laborers are now driving e-rickshaws. Some own their own and most of them are running on rent. A person living in Bhagwanpur and other areas of Lanka is buying five to six e-rickshaws and renting them for Rs 500 to Rs 1000 per day. The driver is earning Rs 1500 to 2000 per day by driving e-rickshaw day and night.
