TRAI new Guidelines telecom companies and broadband providers have to pay compensation

TRAI New Guidelines : TRAI has made some changes in the rules to provide better network connectivity to the users. The changes made by TRAI will benefit the users, but will create problems for the network providers. Actually, according to the new rules, if the complaints of the users are not resolved by the companies in time, then the company will have to pay compensation. The company will compensate only those users whose complaints were not resolved within the time limit.

TRAI has now set a deadline to resolve the complaints. If users face problems in network connectivity due to natural disaster or any other reason, they complain about it to the concerned department. But even after complaining, it is not fixed. For this reason, a deadline has now been set.

Telecom companies will have to pay fine

After the new rules, now if telecom companies do not follow the quality standards or violate the Broadband, Wireline or Wireless Service Regulations 2024, then they will have to pay a hefty fine. Earlier the amount of fine was Rs 50 thousand, but now it has been increased to Rs 1 lakh.

TRAI has also divided the penalty amount in different forms. TRAI has fixed the penalty amount as Rs 1 lakh, Rs 2 lakh, Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. Apart from this, if the broadband service remains bad for 3 consecutive days, then the users will get compensation from the broadband providers.

The validity of the connection will be increased

According to the new rules of TRAI, if there is a network outage anywhere, the users will get the validity of the connection extended by the company and they will not have to pay any money for this. TRAI has set its deadline for 24 hours.

If there is a problem of network outage for 24 hours, then users need not worry, because now the telecom companies will face the problem. In the new rules, 12 hours will be counted as 1 day. This means that if the network remains down for 12 consecutive hours, then users will get 1 day more validity.

Now, after the new rules, a map will also be shown on the website of mobile service providers. The map will give information to the users about where the company’s network is available and how it can be applied. TRAI’s new rules are going to be implemented within 6 months, after which users will get a lot of relief.
