TRAI New Rule for mobile companies compensation to customer service free outage mobile broadband

TRAI keeps changing its rules from time to time. New decisions are taken by TRAI to improve the mobile experience of people. Many times mobile network users have to face problems due to this. But sometimes it is also beneficial for telecom companies. TRAI has taken one such decision, which takes care of everything from compensation to users.

It is often seen that in case of rain and natural disaster, mobile users have to face a lot of trouble. Even after receiving the complaint, it is not fixed. This is the reason why TRAI has now set a deadline regarding this. TRAI says that if the quality standards are not followed by any telecom company, then they may have to pay a hefty fine. Earlier this fine amount was 50 thousand rupees, but now it has been increased to 1 lakh rupees. In such a situation, this can be a loss deal for telecom operators.

Changes in the old rules

The old rules have also been changed by TRAI. Here the penalty amount has been divided differently. Also, this amount will have to be paid for violating the Broadband and Wireline, Wireless Service Regulations, 2024. The penalty amount may be Rs 1 lakh, Rs 2 lakh, Rs 5 lakh and up to Rs 10 lakh. That is, now the penalty amount has also been fixed in different ways.

Discount will be given for free

According to TRAI’s rules, if there is a network outage in any district, telecom companies will extend the validity of the connection and they will not have to pay extra for it. But the deadline for this outage has been set for 24 hours. This means that if a network remains down for 24 hours, then telecom companies will have to pay for it.

12 hours will be counted as 1 day

This rule will benefit the customers and harm the telecom companies. This is because if a network is down for 12 hours continuously, it will be counted as 1 day. That is, if the network is down for 12 hours, the companies will give 1 day more validity to the customers. This can be called validity extension.

This rule will also be applicable on broadband operators

Let us tell you that this rule is not only applicable on mobile companies but also on broadband providers. It says that if any broadband service remains down for 3 consecutive days, then the providers will have to pay compensation for it. It is being said that this rule is going to be very strict.

The rule will be implemented within 6 months

TRAI says that now there should be a map on the website of mobile service providers, so that users can easily understand where the company’s network is available and how it can be applied. This means that users will now be able to get complete information about their area through the map. These rules of TRAI will be implemented within 6 months and all companies will have to follow it.
