Trains Cancelled: Big news has come for passengers traveling by train. Central Railway has canceled a total of 930 local trains of Mumbai running from midnight of 30 May for the next 63 hours. Railways has imposed a mega block on its services.
Actually, work is going on to widen and expand the platforms of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Railway Station and Thane Railway Station in South Mumbai. That is why this train has been cancelled by the Railways. These trains cancelled from 30 May will remain cancelled till 3:30 pm on 2 June. Let’s know the complete news.
If possible, do not travel on these routes
Central Railway has four main corridors. These include Main, Harbour, Trans Harbour and Uran. More than 1800 local trains run on these corridors daily. Which provides convenience to more than 3 lakh passengers. The service of these corridor rail local trains will be disrupted for the next 63 hours. Along with this, some long distance trains will also be affected.
Central Railway officials have issued instructions to the passengers traveling on this route during this time. Railway officials have said that if it is not necessary, do not travel by these local trains on this route. Otherwise, passengers may have to face problems.
Why have the trains been cancelled?
Actually, from time to time, Indian Railways carries out development work at railway stations. There is a lot of passenger movement at Thane station in Mumbai. In such a situation, Central Railway has started a project to increase the width of platform number 5 and 6 of Thane station, whose width is definitely less at present.
Not only local trains pass through these platforms of Thane station, but mail and express trains also pass through them. As per the new projects, these platforms are now being widened by two-three meters. For this, the railway has issued a notice to impose a 63-hour mega block.
When and how many trains are cancelled?
According to the information given by Central Railway, a total of 930 local trains have been cancelled. Out of which 163 trains are cancelled on 31st May i.e. Friday. While 534 trains are cancelled on 1st June i.e. Saturday, 235 trains will be cancelled on 2nd June i.e. Sunday. According to the information given by Swapnil Neela, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, a total of 72 mail-express trains along with 956 local trains are cancelled on Main and Harbor lines from Friday to Sunday.
