Indian Railways
Expansion
In view of the train accidents, the entire department of railways is engaged in finding the shortcomings of the accident and upgrading it with better technology. The Railway Ministry has started the process of bringing uniformity in the supporting rules (SR) of all 17 railway zones. Similarly, Delhi Railway Division will also monitor trains with an integrated monitoring system. Control offices have been set up in Delhi for Ghaziabad-Saharanpur, Delhi-Rewari, New Delhi-Palwal, Delhi-Ambala and Delhi-Bhatinda sections. All trains are being monitored from here. To continuously monitor the operation of trains in real time, large format electronic display boards have been installed in the control office in Delhi, from where trains running in all sections are being monitored.
In fact, in view of the problem of signal failure, it has been decided to issue integrated train operation safety norms in all railway zones in the next 10 days. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has said that in the Kanchenjunga rail accident that took place on June 17, the Railway Safety Commissioner (CRS) has pointed out the discrepancy in these norms in the investigation report. Only after this, the process of bringing uniformity in the supporting rules (SR) of the railway zone has been started.
Training being given to loco pilots
Along with bringing uniformity in the rules, special training is also being given to the loco pilots. The railways have prepared general rules (GR). On the basis of which the railways will make supporting rules to solve their local and regional issues. Therefore, drivers are being trained to understand it properly. Because in the Kanchenjunga train accident case, it was found that there was a difference in the norms for maintaining the speed of the train during the failure of the automatic signaling system. The CRS investigation has also exposed this.
The track is being equipped with electronic interlocking system
The track is being equipped with electronic interlocking system for safe train operation. The advantage of this will be that trains can be operated back and forth on the same track. Due to the interlocking system, the train standing on the track will not collide with the train coming from behind. According to railway officials, Delhi Safdarjung, Shamli, Baraut, Kandhla, Thana Bhawan, Mudlana have been equipped with this system in 2023-24. The work of electronic interlocking will be completed in Pilu Kheda, Jind City, Madlauda in 2024-25.
