Trent Boult World Cup 2023: New Zealand’s experienced fast bowler Trent Boult wants to play in the 50-over World Cup to be held in India this year. In the year 2019, Bolt failed to win his team the final. The fast bowler from New Zealand is keen to rectify the mistakes of the last World Cup and hopes to play in the World Cup to be held in India later this year. In August last year, Bolt had opted out of New Zealand’s annual contract. Since then he has played for New Zealand only in select series.

Talking to Australia’s newspaper ‘The Age’, Trent Boult hinted at participating in the World Cup, saying, “I want to play in the World Cup, which I hope.” He bowled in the super over against England in the 2019 Cricket World Cup final. Then New Zealand had to face defeat in that title match. England was declared the winner on the basis of boundary count.
Out of contract last year
Trent Boult was automatically out of New Zealand’s annual contract in August last year. After that he has participated in select series for the Kiwi team. The purpose of getting out of the central contract is probably that Bolt wants to focus on franchise cricket apart from limited overs cricket. After being dropped from New Zealand’s annual contract, Bolt played in the T20 World Cup apart from playing the ODI series against Australia. He is not currently a part of the New Zealand team touring Pakistan. Bolt was part of New Zealand’s ICC World Test Championship winning team in the year 2021. Then the Kiwi team won the World Test Championship title by defeating India in Southampton.
