‘World Health Organization’ said on Tuesday that last year more than 80 lakh people were suffering from TB disease. This is the highest number since the United Nations agency started tracking. TB is a type of bacterial infection that spreads rapidly in the air. It has the worst effect on the lungs. About 1/4 of the population in the entire world is suffering from TB. Its initial symptoms are seen only in 5-10 percent people.

The organization reported that less than half of the 400,000 patients suffering from drug-resistant TB last year were diagnosed and treated.
