Rajat Bhatri/Gorakhpur: There is a tea vendor in Gorakhpur who has a crowd of people all the time. From the time the shop opens in the morning till it closes at night, people do not forget to taste their tea. ‘Deepak Tea Stall’ located in Kudaghat, Gorakhpur, Deepak started the journey of this tea 5 years ago. Younger brother was also with him and gradually the work increased. Today, customers sip about 500 to 600 cups of tea here every day. They also have a combination of butter with tea which the customers also like. From the opening of the shop till closing, the process of drinking and packing tea starts at Deepak’s place.
When we reached ‘Deepak Tea Stall’ located at the city’s garbage can, the view there was such that people were standing around and tea was boiling. Meanwhile we met Deepak. Deepak tells that, he started it 5 years ago. With less money, he started tea and canned butter, he started telling his brother how to make tea and the younger brother kept doing the same. Gradually, people liked his taste so much that now the crowd of people started increasing, even then Deepak did not hire any employee. Rather, the entire family came together and took the work forward.

After reaching the shop, Deepak’s younger brother Vivek was making tea. When we talk to Vivek, he tells that he makes tea in the normal way only. They just have some special spices and prepare the tea in brass pots. 500 to 600 cups of tea are sold in a day. Along with 100 to 150 packs of butter, the shop opens at 6 in the morning and remains open till 9 in the night. During this period, the process of selling butter and tea continues. While a tea is priced at Rs 15 and a can of butter is priced at Rs 25, these people make sales worth Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 lakh almost every month. Vivek tells that people drink tea at his place. Many people pack it at home also.
