Etawah: For about 850 years, people of every religion have been coming to the shrine of Baba of the rugged place to pay their respects. It is said about this shrine, which is considered miraculous, that two lions clean the shrine with their tails for years and then disappear into the ravines. This miraculous shrine is located in the dense ravines of Etawah district headquarters of Uttar Pradesh. An annual Urs is also organized at this shrine, in which people of every religion participate.
Believing in this miracle, children, women, old and young people take a lot of trouble in the jungle and reach the shrine without any fear to pay their respects. The flow of devotees to the shrine of Baba of the ravines has been going on for about 850 years and not just today. On Thursdays, it seems as if it is not a jungle but a market of a crowded city. The flow of devotees starts from the morning itself on that day and continues till late evening.
Even though there is no clean path to reach this shrine, the way people are reaching this miraculous shrine to pay their respects is really commendable. People are reaching this market on foot with their families. Some people are also seen reaching there by scooter, motorcycle or other means.
Mohammad Aslam, the caretaker of the Bheer Wale Baba’s Mazar, tells that two lions come from the jungle to clean this Mazar and after cleaning the Mazar with their tails, they go back to the ravine. Aslam believes that if any devotee is returning from the Mazar, he does not feel any kind of danger. It is believed that this is the effect of the miracle of Bheer Wale Baba and that is why no devotee faces any kind of danger. Whatever a person of any religion comes here to ask for, it is fulfilled in every situation, after which he comes here to offer his devotion at the Mazar not once but many times.
It is said that during the war between Mohammad Ghori and Raja Sumer Shah, Mohammad Ghori’s commander Shamsuddin used to keep watch from the ravines here, after which a veil was put on him and his tomb was established in the ravine. It is also said that when he was in the role of commander, lions used to come to him, but when he went behind the curtain, three lions were seen roaming around his tomb. When this scene came to the eyes of those who came to worship in the ravine, they got scared at first but the lions did not harm them.
As soon as people started getting information about the lions coming to the shrine, people started reaching the shrine to pay their respects. Since then, this trend has been going on continuously. Mohammad Sultan, a resident of Etawah city, says that when he gets a message from Baba, he reaches the shrine to pay his respects. It is not necessary that he always comes.
Mohammad Farooq of Etawah city says that this is a miraculous shrine of Baba of the ravines. It is generally believed that two lions come here from the ravines in the dark of the night and clean the shrine with their tails and return. This market is indeed miraculous. They have been coming here for a long time and all this is possible only due to the miracle of Baba.
Demand from local people
The local people demand that the administration should construct a clean road to reach the shrine of Baba of the rugged place. If a road is actually constructed to the shrine, then the people coming to pay their respects will definitely get convenience.
