The University Grants Commission has written a letter to Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Millia Islamia ordering that all central universities will have to conduct the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate admission. Let us tell you that this big change in the field of education has started from July 2022. Some Central Universities and State Universities in the country are also conducting admission under this in undergraduate courses.
14 lakh students had registered in 2022
In the year 2022, 14 lakh students had registered for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). Under this examination, candidates were selected in 44 Central Universities and 86 Universities. This exam has become the biggest exam of the country after NEET UG. On an average, 18 lakh students appear in NEET every year. In the year 2022, its exam was held in two phases. The first phase was in July and the second in August. This examination was conducted in about ten thousand centers.
AMU and UGC had differences regarding CUET
On CUET, AMU said that they have not received any specific instructions from the commission, so they will take admission on the same pattern as last year. The university says that they will accept the CUET score only for the selected programs. Whereas, UGC said that they have issued advisory to all universities and higher educational institutions and have also invited them to give full recognition to CUET. Under this, candidates will be able to appear in the entrance examination of all education institutes through a single entrance examination. On the basis of its score, they will be selected for admission everywhere.
