UK Murder Case Indian-origin man sentenced to lifetime jail for murder of female sex worker in London

UK Murder Case: A London court has sentenced a man of Indian origin to life imprisonment for the murder of a woman. According to the court, 30 years ago, Sandeep Patel had murdered a woman named Marina Koppel by stabbing her at least 140 times. The case has come to light after the DNA report.

According to a report, 51-year-old Sandeep Patel had murdered a woman in a flat in Westminster area of London in 1994. The accused was sentenced in the city’s Old Bailey court on Friday. The Metropolitan Police said that Sandeep Patel’s hair was found on Marina Coppell’s ring. After investigation by the forensic team, the accused was sentenced after so many years.

Woman worked as a sex worker
According to the report, Marina was 39 years old at the time of her death, she mostly lived and worked in her flat. She used to spend time with her husband in Northampton on weekends. According to the evidence given in the court, Marina used to work as a masseuse and occasionally as a sex worker, but there was no dispute of any kind between the husband and wife. According to the report, Marina used to work and send money to her mother in Colombia, where her two children lived.

Husband found dead body in the flat
On August 8, 1994, when Marina did not meet her husband for several days, her husband went to her flat to search for Marina. When he reached the flat, he found his wife’s body lying soaked in blood. After this, Marina’s husband informed the police and the police collected evidence from the spot. During this time, a ring was found on Marina’s finger and a plastic shopping bag was also found, which had Patel’s fingerprints on it.

The case was not solved for many years
According to the report, Sandeep Patel was 21 years old at that time. Sandeep worked in the same shop where the shopping bag was. Because of this, fingerprints were not considered important evidence and the case remained unsolved for many years. In the year 2022, when the DNA test of the hair stuck on the ring was done, the matter came to light. After which, on Friday, the London court sentenced a person of Indian origin to life imprisonment.
