UK Newly Elected PM Keir Starmer talks with PM Narendra Modi praise his leadership


UK PM Keir Starmer: Britain’s newly elected Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Saturday addressed the Prime Minister on major global challenges. Narendra Modi welcomed the leadership of the UK. The two leaders spoke on the phone on Saturday (July 6) after the results of the UK general election.

A statement issued by the British PM’s Office said, “The Prime Minister said in the phone call that he looks forward to further strengthening the strong and respectful relations between the two countries, and welcomes Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives and leadership on key global challenges such as climate change and economic growth.”

What did Keir Starmer say about PM Modi?

It mentioned that the two leaders discussed the importance of the Living Bridge 2030 Roadmap between the UK and India, and agreed that there were a wide range of areas in which the two countries could enhance cooperation, including defence and security, critical and emerging technologies, and climate change.

Starmer’s office said, “While discussing the free trade agreement, the Prime Minister said that he is ready to make an agreement that will work equally for both the countries.” Along with this, PM Modi also invited Keir Starmer to visit India soon.

PM Modi also congratulated for the victory

PM Modi congratulated Starmer on his and the Labour Party’s ‘outstanding victory’ in the general elections. After the call, PM Modi posted on Instagram, “Glad to speak to Keir Starmer. Congratulate him on being elected as the Prime Minister of the UK. We are committed to strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and stronger India-UK economic ties for the progress and prosperity of our people and global well-being.”

The two leaders recalled the historical ties between the two countries and showed their commitment to further deepen and advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UK. The statement issued by the PMO said, “We appreciate the positive contribution of the Indian community to the social, economic and political development of Britain. We agreed to continue promoting close relations between the people of both sides. The two leaders also agreed to remain in touch.”
