The results of the Gujarat assembly elections are out. This time the Bharatiya Janata Party has created a new record. In Gujarat, which has 182 assembly seats, 156 BJP candidates won the elections. The Congress suffered the most. The Congress came straight down to 17 from 77 seats. Means Congress had to bear the loss of 60 seats. At the same time, this time only five candidates of the Aam Aadmi Party, which claimed to form the government, could win the elections. The SP candidate won one seat, while the remaining three seats were won by independent candidates.
Ramanlal Nanubhai Patkar of BJP defeated Nareshbhai Vazirbhai Valvi of INC by 64,786 votes in Umbergaon assembly seat of Valsad district. BJP candidate got 1,10,088 votes while Congress got 45,302 votes here. You were at number three. Its candidate Ashokbhai Mohanbhai Patel got 10,676 votes which was 6.16 percent of the total votes. The deposits of four including the AAP candidate were forfeited. NOTA got 2,772 votes here. Hasmukhbhai Ramanbhai Bochal, who was fielded by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), lost his bail. Bochal got even less votes than NOTA. Bolch received only 1,777 votes.
BJP got victory in 2017
The BJP had won the Umbergaon seat in the 2017 assembly elections. In this election, BJP had made Ramanlal Nanubhai Patkar its candidate from this seat. Patkar defeated Ashokbhai Patel of Congress by 41,000 votes. A total of seven candidates were in the fray here. Apart from these two, the deposits of the remaining five candidates were forfeited.
Ramanlal Patkar hit the winning six
BJP’s Ramanlal Patkar won from Umbergaon seat for the fourth consecutive time. Before 2022 and 2017, Patkar won on BJP ticket in 2012 and 2007 as well. In all, Ramanlal Nanubhai Patkar has won the BJP six times from Umbergaon. Ramanalala had to face defeat in 2002. Whereas, in 1995 and 1998 also he won as a BJP candidate. Before 1995, Congress’s Chhotubhai Vestabhai Patel had become Umbergaon MLA for four consecutive terms in 1975, 1980, 1985 and 1990. Earlier in 1962, 1967 and 1972 also this seat went to the account of Congress. Congress has won the Umbergaon seat eight times in the total 14 elections held so far. At the same time, the BJP’s lotus has blossomed here six times.
