After the murder of Umesh Pal, the main witness of the Raju Pal murder case, the shooters who were involved in the incident can take shelter in Kaushambi. After receiving such intelligence, STF has increased surveillance on the border villages of the district. The reason is that the brother of Mafia Atiq, who was absconding after the murder of Raju Pal, was caught from Hatwa village of former MLA Ashraf Kaushambi. Once upon a time, in the villages of the district adjacent to Prayagraj, the Atiq gang used to speak.

On January 25, 2005, Atik’s brother Ashraf was made the main accused after the murder of Rajupal, who was an MLA from Shehar Paschimi. Ashraf was cutting absconding. The state government had announced a reward of two lakhs for his arrest. In the year 2020, Ashraf was arrested from Asrauli Hatwa village of Pooramufti Kotwali under the then Kaushambi district. Here Ashraf’s in-laws were at Atiq’s special henchman Zaid’s place.

Zaid’s group used to do business of Atiq’s land in Kaushambi. Now after the murder of Umesh Pal, the main witness of the Rajupal murder case, Atik’s connection with the district is being linked. The presence of shooters is being expressed in the villages of Mariadih, Koilha, Sallahpur, Kajipur, Mahagaon etc. If police sources are to be believed, the STF is also keeping an eye on the villages occupied by Atiq.
