Union Budget 2024 Increase duty on PCBA Telecom equipment Mobile users recharge plan hike

Union Budget 2024: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the budget on Tuesday (23 July). During this time, the Finance Minister has made many big announcements. In one of these announcements, it has been told that the duty of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA) on Telecom Equipment has been increased, which will be from 10% to 15%. Its direct impact can be seen on mobile users.

Increasing duties on PCBA can lead to an increase in the price of Telecom Equipment. In such a situation, telecom companies can once again make recharge plans expensive for the short term. Not only this, the speed of 5G rollout will also slow down due to this.

You will have to face expensive tariff plans

Due to the increase in the price of telecom equipment, telecom operators will have to pay more operational cost and due to this, customers may have to face higher service charges or expensive tariff plans. Due to the increase in PCBA, the pace of expansion of the network of the telecom sector in India may also face problems.

We are saying this because the work of network expansion will become expensive, which can slow down the speed of work. Along with this, the financial burden on telecom companies will also increase along with increasing burden, which can slow down the speed of rollout of 5G service.

However, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also talked about solar panels and lithium batteries becoming cheaper, which will reduce the prices of phone and vehicle batteries. Apart from this, the Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) rate for e-commerce companies has been reduced from 1 percent to 0.1 percent. It has been made almost zero. Along with this, it has also been said that the basic custom duty on mobile phones and chargers has been reduced by 15 percent.
