Charging stations for e-vehicles will soon be built on four expressways of Uttar Pradesh. In the first phase, 26 charging stations will be built on Agra-Lucknow, Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and Gorakhpur Link Expressways. According to officials of UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), 14 public facilities complexes will also be developed on Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and Gorakhpur Link Expressways.

Under the UP EV Policy 2022, 8 charging stations will be built on Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal and Bundelkhand Expressway and 2 on Gorakhpur Link Expressway. Charging stations will also be set up on the under-construction Ganga Expressway. The implementing firm for the charging stations is M/s Adani Total Energy E-Mobility Limited. The charging rates are not fixed at the moment, but UPDA officials have discussed it with the CM.

It is expected that the rates will be decided soon. The estimated cost of construction of lines and issuing connections for the electrical connection of the charging stations has been estimated to be around Rs 9.37 crore. M/s Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited has been selected to develop 2 public facility complexes on Gorakhpur Link Expressway on PPP model, the remaining 12 will be constructed by UPDA on EPC model.
