UP Assembly By Election Samajwadi Party Candidate: For the by-elections to be held on four assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party has declared its candidates on three seats. SP has given ticket to Awadhesh Kumar Verma from Dadraul Assembly, Rakesh Yadav from Gainsadi and Vijay Singh Gond from Dwaddhi. Out of the four seats in UP where by-elections are to be held, SP had won only one seat in the 2022 assembly elections, while BJP candidates had won on the remaining three seats.
Four assembly seats of UP are currently vacant and by-elections are to be held on them. Which includes Lucknow East Assembly seat, Duddhi Assembly, Dadrauli Assembly, Gasdi Assembly seat. SP has declared its candidates on all three seats except Lucknow East Assembly seat. Very soon the party will also announce its candidate for Lucknow East Assembly seat.

Know when the voting will take place for the by-elections on these seats.
Voting will be held on Dadraul Assembly seat during the fourth phase of voting on May 13.
Voting will be held on Lucknow East seat during the fifth phase on May 20.
Voting will be held on May 25 during the sixth phase on Gansadi assembly seat.
Voting will be held on Duddhi assembly seat in the seventh phase during the last phase on June 1.
Why is there a by-election?
BJP candidate Ashutosh Tandon alias Gopal had won the Lucknow East Assembly seat in the 2022 assembly elections. In this election he defeated SP leader Anurag Bhadauria. This seat became vacant after his death in November 2023, hence by-election is to be held on this seat.
In the 2022 assembly elections, BJP candidate Ramdular Gond defeated SP leader Vijay Singh Gaur from Duddhi assembly seat. However, later the court sentenced him to 25 years in the rape case. After which this seat is vacant and by-election is to be held on it.
In the 2022 assembly elections, BJP candidate Manvendra Singh defeated SP’s Rajesh Kumar Verma from Dadraul assembly seat. Due to the death of Rajesh Kumar in January 2024, this seat was also vacant and hence by-election is to be held on this seat also.
In the 2022 assembly elections, SP candidate Shiv Pratap Yadav defeated Shailesh Kumar Singh of BJP from Gansadi assembly seat. This seat became vacant after the death of SP MLA Shiv Pratap Yadav in January 2024 and by-election is to be held on this seat also.
