BJP has the maximum number of 251 MLAs in the UP Assembly. The main opposition party Samajwadi Party has 105 MLAs, Apna Dal has 13, RLD has eight, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party has six, Nishad Party has five, Congress and Jansatta Dal Loktantrik have two each and BSP has one MLA. At present 10 seats are vacant, out of which voting has taken place on nine today.

In 2022, Samajwadi Party had fielded in Sisamau, Katehari, Karhal and Kundarki assembly seats, while BJP had won in Phulpur, Ghaziabad, Majhwan and Khair. While Meerapur seat was in the account of Rashtriya Lok Dal, now it is included in NDA.

Ghaziabad Sadar seat has seen the least voting. Only 33.30 percent voting took place in this seat till 5 pm, while the highest voting took place in Kundarki seat. 57.32 percent voting took place on this seat.

By-elections held on these nine assembly seats
By-elections were held in Phulpur, Ghaziabad, Majhwan, Khair, Mirapur, Sisamau, Katehari, Karhal and Kundarki assembly seats in UP. Direct contest on all seats is being considered between Bharatiya Janata Party and Samajwadi. Although apart from Bahujan Samaj Party, there are many other independent candidates in the fray, but the contest is believed to be between only two.
