Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has distanced herself from Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad. Chandrashekhar had also approached Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav during the Lok Sabha elections, but when things did not work out there, Chandrashekhar contested the elections alone and won a strong victory.
Now Chandrashekhar Azad has clearly refused to form an alliance with any party. He said that he will contest the elections in Uttar Pradesh without any alliance. Because the public has lost faith in all the parties. Chandrashekhar says that his party will give a chance to new people.
After winning the Nagina seat in the Lok Sabha elections, Chandrashekhar Azad had announced to contest in the by-elections to be held on 10 assembly seats. Out of the 10 assembly seats on which by-elections are being held, Azad Samaj Party has also appointed in-charges for four assembly seats of Khair, Meerapur, Kurandki and Ghaziabad.
Be it Mayawati or Chandrashekhar Azad, both have refused to form an alliance with any political party. In this by-election, an interesting fight can be seen in the Milkipur assembly seat. Milkipur is a special seat for the Samajwadi Party because its MLA Awadhesh Prasad has now become an MP. In such a situation, Mayawati and Chandrashekhar Azad are working on a strategy to snatch the Milkipur seat from the Samajwadi Party.
Tough fights can be seen even on those seats where the Muslim population is high. After the performance of BSP in the Lok Sabha elections, Mayawati has decided that from now onwards, there will be a fresh thought about giving tickets to Muslim candidates. At the same time, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad is raising his voice not only for Dalits but also for Muslims.
It is clearly visible that the faster Chandrashekhar Azad is rising in Uttar Pradesh, the faster Mayawati’s vote bank is decreasing. A clear example of this is the Nagina seat. In the Lok Sabha elections, Chandrashekhar Azad got 51.19% votes in Nagina seat and BSP’s Surendra Pal got 1.33%. The difference is visible to everyone. Mayawati’s Jatav voters have also gone to Akhilesh Yadav instead of going to BJP.
The share of Dalit voters in UP is 21.1 percent, out of which Jatav Dalits are 11.7 percent. Mayawati and Chandrashekhar Azad both belong to this community. Earlier Mayawati had the support of the entire Dalit community, but with the passage of time she was left with only Jatav voters, but now Chandrashekhar Azad is contesting the elections relying on the Jatav voters and the effort is to get the entire Dalit community to support Chandrashekhar Azad.
