Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in an important meeting held on Monday with senior government level officials, reviewed the ongoing preparations in view of flood management and safety of public life and gave necessary guidelines in the wider public interest.
Chief Minister Yogi said that the well-planned efforts made in the last 7 years for a permanent solution to the problem of floods, which has been a cause of widespread loss of life and property in the state for decades, have yielded good results. There has been an unprecedented reduction in the number of flood-prone districts. As per the advice of experts, we have succeeded in minimising the threat from floods by using the latest technology. Good work has been done through inter-departmental coordination to protect people’s lives from floods. This year too, the safety of people in the event of floods should be ensured through better coordination, quick action and better management.

He said that 24 districts in the state are in the most sensitive category in terms of floods. These include Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Lakhimpur Kheri, Gorakhpur, Basti, Bahraich, Bijnor, Siddharthnagar, Ghazipur, Gonda, Ballia, Deoria, Sitapur, Balrampur, Ayodhya, Mau, Farrukhabad, Shravasti, Badaun, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, Pilibhit and Barabanki. Whereas Saharanpur, Shamli, Aligarh, Bareilly, Hamirpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Rampur, Prayagraj, Bulandshahr, Moradabad, Hardoi, Varanasi, Unnao, Lucknow, Shahjahanpur and Kasganj are of sensitive nature. Sufficient reserve stock should be collected for flood emergencies in the most sensitive and sensitive areas. There should also be adequate lighting and necessary equipment at these sites. The Water Power Minister and both the Ministers of State should visit the most sensitive and sensitive areas, as well as inspect the projects related to flood protection.
He said that according to the weather department’s forecast, there will be sufficient rainfall this year. Maintain vigilance in the districts bordering Nepal and Uttarakhand. Flood bulletins and weather forecasts should be issued regularly for the convenience of the general public and better management of relief and rescue operations.
There should be better coordination between the Indian Meteorological Department, Central Water Commission, Central Disaster Management Authority and the state’s irrigation and water resources, home, medical and health, irrigation and water resources, food and logistics, revenue and relief, animal husbandry, agriculture, state disaster management, remote sensing authority. Maintain continuous communication with central agencies and departments. The assessment and estimate reports received from here should be made available to the officers posted in the field on time. Channelization of rivers is proving useful in protecting the residential areas and agriculture situated on the river banks. Get the ongoing drainage and channelization projects in Ambedkar Nagar, Balrampur, Barabanki, Sitapur and Shravasti completed on time. The silt that comes out should be utilized properly.
