The Lucknow bench of the High Court ordered the Child and Women Welfare Department to take action in the matter of providing treatment and shelter to the homeless and destitute people of the city. The court ordered the Child Welfare Committee, Lucknow to submit the report on compliance of the order on October 24.
A division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Om Prakash Shukla said it was incomprehensible why details of other districts were not presented despite giving considerable time. At the next hearing on October 24, the court ordered to present these details. The court gave this order on the PIL of Jyoti Rajput.
The team of 5 young advocates Shailendra Singh Rajawat, Jitendra Narayan Mishra, Vikas Kumar Aggarwal, Rani Singh and Shreya Aggarwal, formed on the orders of the court, found 97 such homeless and destitute people in Lucknow. Of these, 25 were said to be in need of immediate help. The team’s lawyers also told the court that during the survey they saw many children roaming around the railway track. On this, the court ordered the Child Welfare Committee to take action. The court expressed displeasure over officers not presenting details of such people from other districts of the state.
