As the voting date is approaching, the political equations of Allahabad parliamentary seat are also changing every moment. The rocky terrain of this region, situated between the rivers Ganga and Yamuna, which supports different cultures and communities, is creating a mirage-like situation in the political circles.
In such a situation, it has not been easy even for political pundits to understand which side the camel will sit on. According to experts, in this election based on caste mobilization, Scheduled Caste voters seem to be decisive.
Brahmins have always been deciding the direction of politics on Allahabad seat. This is the reason why till now only upper caste leaders have been elected as MPs from this seat. This time too, the situation seems to be no different and the BJP, which is preparing to score a hat-trick, is facing a tough challenge from Congress’s Ujjwal Raman Singh.
There are more than 18.25 lakh voters in Allahabad. The alliance of Brahmins and Mallahs, who well understand the ecology of Ganga and Yamuna, was very much liked by BJP in the last two elections. There are more than six lakh voters of both these communities in Allahabad and BJP has been considering them as its traditional vote bank. Apart from these, BJP has also been considering about two lakh Patel voters as its traditional voters.
