Up News: Brajesh Pathak will be the chairman of UP Olympic Association, all office bearers will be elected unopposed

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak is set to become the chairman of the UP Olympic Association. This will be the first time after 19 years that someone will be appointed as the chairman of the association. Earlier in the year 2004, Kalraj Mishra was selected on this post.

As soon as the last date for nominations ends on Friday, it has been decided that in the elections to be held at the UP Badminton Academy on March 5, all the office bearers in the executive body of the association will be elected unopposed. It may be noted that since 2007, the elections to the UP Olympic Association have been held unopposed.

Talking about the nomination, Viraj Sagar Das will become the President for the second time in a row and Anandeshwar Pandey will become the General Secretary for the eighth time in a row. Apart from this, Additional Chief Secretary Sports Dr. Navneet Sehgal is set to become Senior Vice President. Similarly, UP Weightlifting Association President Sabina Yadav, UP Netball Association President Vaghish Pathak and UP Judo Association President Sudhir Halwasiya will jointly become Vice Presidents. At the same time, Sports Director Dr. RP Singh is also set to become Senior Joint Secretary.

Apart from these, nine other vice-presidents and one senior vice-president will be made by consensus. Asian Games gold medalist athlete and Padmashree awardee Sudha Singh can be made vice-president and Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Swati Singh joint secretary for women’s participation in the association. Retired IAS DC Mishra has been made the Returning Officer for the election.

In the meeting, 62 delegates from 21 state associations will have the right to vote, while 93 office-bearers of units of 75 districts affiliated to the UP Olympic Association will vote.
