Nitin Gadkari News: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday issued a stern warning to the agencies and contractors who are poorly maintaining the roads and said that the operators who perform poorly will be shown the door. Gadkari, who arrived in Ghaziabad to inaugurate the tree plantation campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 – Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskar Swachhata’ campaign, inspected the ‘Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE)’. During this, he reprimanded the responsible people after finding flaws.

Gadkari said sarcastically, ‘I have used the Eastern Peripheral Expressway after a long time. A lot of work has been done. Now I wish that many people who are not working should be ‘retired’ by my hands. Some contractors should be blacklisted, some should have their bank guarantees confiscated.’ Gadkari warned, ‘The officials of the association are sitting here (in the audience at the event), the maintenance of roads should be good. I saw the road today. Its maintenance is very bad. We will not spare you. Those who do dirty work, even after confiscating their bank guarantee, we will put them in the blacklist and will not let them fill a new ‘tender’.’

Gadkari also said that agencies and operators who maintain roads well will be given special recognition by the government. He said those who do good work will be rewarded while those who do bad work will be removed from the system. He also stressed on the need for pro-environment policies and initiatives like biofuel and said the ministry is doing a lot of studies on schemes that can be implemented in India to reduce pollution.

Referring to the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign on ‘X’, Gadkari said, “This initiative has been launched on the occasion of World Environment Day by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the aim of moving the country towards a green economy and adopting a sustainable lifestyle to fight the challenges of climate change. This will not only have a positive impact on our environment, but it is also an inspirational step for our society.”
