Taking a big decision on Tuesday, the Yogi Cabinet has decided to increase the scholarship of students of Sanskrit schools and colleges in the state after 24 years. In the cabinet meeting held in Lok Bhavan under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the proposal to amend/increase the current scholarship rates applicable since the year 2001 for students studying in Sanskrit schools and colleges in Uttar Pradesh has been approved. It is known that the scholarship of students of Sanskrit schools and colleges has been increased after 24 years. Earlier, the scholarship was last decided in 2001. It is noteworthy that a total of 14 proposals were placed in the cabinet meeting, out of which 13 proposals got approval from the cabinet.
Students of class 6 and 7 will also get the benefit of scholarship
Secondary Education Minister Gulab Devi gave information regarding this proposal. She said that the cabinet has approved this important proposal related to the Secondary Education Department. Under this, Rs 50 per month has been fixed for Prathama class 6 and 7 and Rs 75 per month for class 8. Along with this, the proposal to give Rs 100 for Purva Madhyama (class 9 and 10), Rs 150 for Uttar Madhyama (class 11 and 12), Rs 200 for Shastri and Rs 250 per month for Acharya was approved by the Council of Ministers.
Students from any income group will be able to avail the benefit
The Secondary Education Minister said that most of the students pursuing Sanskrit education are from poor families, so arrangements have been made to provide scholarships to students of Prathama classes six, seven and eight under Sanskrit education. Earlier there was no provision for providing scholarships to children of classes 6 and 7, but now on the instructions of the Chief Minister, the government has decided to provide scholarships to them as well. The amendments made in the scholarship are much more than before. The students will directly benefit from it. This decision has been taken to encourage Sanskrit education. Earlier there was a capping that only those with an annual income of Rs 50,000 would be eligible for it, but now this condition has been removed. Now there is no income cap in it. Any person of any type, irrespective of the income group, if he becomes a student of Sanskrit, he will get the benefit of scholarship. He said that Sanskrit is the mother of all languages, so the government is paying full attention to it. Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna said that there are a total of 517 Sanskrit schools in the state, where students will be able to avail the benefits of this scheme.
Now private entrepreneurs will be able to manage tourist accommodation houses for 30 years
In order to provide better accommodation and food facilities to the domestic and foreign tourists visiting Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has increased the time limit for operating tourist accommodation houses run by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. through private entrepreneurs on the basis of management contract, from 5 years to 30 years (15+15). Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh told that in the last few years, the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Uttar Pradesh has increased rapidly. In 2016-17, around 16 crore tourists came, while in 2023, 48 crore tourists will come to Uttar Pradesh.
This year it is likely to increase further. There is also Maha Kumbh in 2025, in which a large number of tourists will come to the state. Tourist accommodation houses of Tourism Development Corporation are being operated to make arrangements for their stay and food. Among these, there are many tourist accommodation houses which are in dilapidated condition and are also facing shortage of employees. In such a situation, with the aim of encouraging private tourism entrepreneurs in the state and creating new employment opportunities, it has been decided to extend the units run by the corporation in a phased manner for a minimum period of 15 years and for the next 15 years on the basis of mutual consent. It will be operated by inviting tenders.
With the operation of units by private entrepreneurs, there will be qualitative improvement in the facilities available to tourists, entrepreneurship will be encouraged and new employment opportunities will also be created. He said that the units run by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation will be expanded through private entrepreneurs and institutions for a minimum period of 15 years and thereafter with the condition of 15 per cent increase in the lease rent for the next 15 years. There will also be a provision of 5 per cent increase in the amount given by the investor to the Tourism Corporation every year.
