Barhalganj police arrested two people from Jharkhand on Tuesday on the charges of theft. In the investigation, it was found that the hideout of the accused is in Azamgarh, where they live by taking a room on rent on the pretext of setting up a vegetable stall. Used to steal in Barhalganj and surrounding areas. Used to sell stolen goods in West Bengal.
26 stolen mobile phones, a gold ring, Rs 4,750 have been recovered from the accused. The police produced both of them in the court, from where they were sent to jail. The accused have been identified as Phekan Mandal and Karan Kumar Mandal, residents of Mashkalaiya in Taljhari area of Sahebganj district of Jharkhand.
SP South Arun Kumar Singh gave information about the accused by holding a press conference in the police lines. The SP said that on December 5, Shivam Tiwari had registered a case of theft at Barhalganj police station. Shivam had told that aunt was going to Barhalganj by auto. Three people stole gold chain and 15 hundred rupees from handbag.
Earlier on November 21, an incident had also happened with Indresh Kumar Pandey, who was waiting for the roadways bus near Ambedkar Chowk. A young man who came to Indresh had stolen the mobile phone and ring after talking to him. Police registered a case and was engaged in investigation. On the information of the informer, two accused were arrested from near Barhalganj town.
The SP said that during interrogation it was found that the accused used to stay in Azamgarh after coming from Jharkhand. Staying in a rented hut near Bawali Mor, he used to set up a vegetable stall. Used to steal in Madhuban and Barhalganj areas at night. The names of some more accused have come to the fore in the interrogation, who are being searched.
