A public holiday has been declared in all the districts on the day of polling in the municipal elections. In the phase where polling will take place, there will be a public holiday on that day. This election is being held in two phases. In the first phase, polling will be held in 37 districts on May 4 and in the second phase in 38 districts on May 11.
Jitendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, General Administration Department, has issued a notification in this regard. It has been said that the District Magistrates should declare holiday in the respective districts on the day of polling.

7689 prescriptions were filled on Sunday
Monday is the last day for filing nomination papers for the second phase of civic elections. In such a situation, political parties issued tickets by making strategy till Sunday evening. This election of the second phase is being held in 38 districts. On Sunday, 7689 candidates filed nomination papers across the state.
Of these, 21 candidates for the post of Mayor, 937 for the post of Municipal Corporation, 849 for the post of Municipal Council President and 3210 for the post of member filed nomination papers. Similarly, 306 candidates for the post of Nagar Panchayat President and 2366 candidates for the post of member filled papers. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on April 25. Names can be withdrawn on 27th. Election symbols will be allotted on April 28. Voting will be held on May 11.
