The power corporation is claiming to supply more electricity than the roster, but the reality is different. In many districts, there are power cuts in the humid heat. In rural areas, there are power cuts ranging from two hours to eight hours. Where there has been no rain, farmers are worried about irrigating their crops.
According to farmers, paddy crops are drying up due to lack of electricity. People in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar Extension, Chinhat, Indira Nagar also faced problems due to local faults. Still, the department is claiming to provide ample electricity. According to the report of UP State Load Dispatch Center, electricity has been supplied for 18.24 hours in rural areas as against 18 hours.
Electricity is being supplied for 21.30 hours in Nagar Panchayats, Tehsil headquarters and 24 hours in the district headquarters. It is certain that while the maximum demand for electricity was 20232 MW on 18 September, it reached 25060 on the night of 20th. It is estimated to exceed 26 thousand MW in the coming days.
