UP Teacher Recruitment 2024 New Merit List: The teacher recruitment for 69,000 posts in Uttar Pradesh has been cancelled after the High Court order. The government has been given three months to release the new merit list. However, the question arises as to how the new merit list will be prepared. How will the new merit list be prepared

According to the rules and regulations of UP Government, the reservation policy is as follows.
- SC – 21 percent
- ST – 2 percent
- OBC – 27 percent
- EWS – 10 percent
- PWD – 3 percent
- Freedom fighter dependent – 2 percent
- Women candidates – 20 percent (horizontal reservation).
Along with this, the UP government has also created a sub-category system in OBC reservation. Under this, reservation will be available in this manner.
OBC – Non Creamy Layer – 14 percent
OBC – Creamy Layer – 13 percent.
The decision will be a tough one for the department
The court has given three months’ time for teacher recruitment and during this time a new list has to be prepared. Meanwhile, UP CM Yogi has said that no injustice will be done to anyone and every effort will be made to ensure that those who have jobs do not lose them. However, this does not seem possible on practical grounds.
As the question was raised that OBC category should get 27 percent reservation but only 3.86 percent have got reservation in recruitment. In such a situation, if these candidates are included in the list, then the old candidates will have to be removed. Many candidates say that they had got the right marks according to the category but still were not selected. In such a situation, even if they are given a place in the list, the seats will fall short.
What is the possible way
If the old candidates are not to be removed to include new candidates, then they will have to approach the Supreme Court. If the decision from there is contrary to the decision of the High Court, then their jobs can be saved. The court has allowed the candidates currently working on the post to continue their jobs till the end of the session, but if the list is revised, then the job can be lost.
The struggle is long
Overall, the complications that are coming in the way of this recruitment clearly show that this struggle is going to be a long one. If the High Court’s order is accepted, then many candidates who are already working will lose their jobs and if the Supreme Court (if the matter reaches there) passes any other order, then the struggle of these candidates that has been going on for the last 6 years will get prolonged.
