Meanwhile, the demon Mur chased Lord Vishnu and came to that ashram and wanted to kill Vishnu while he was resting. Then a goddess appeared from the body of Vishnu and killed the demon.
This incident happened on the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Margashirsha month. Lord Vishnu was very pleased with the goddess and named her Ekadashi. Due to its origin from the body of Shri Hari, it was named Utpana Ekadashi.
