NDA Politics: This time in the Lok Sabha elections, the two states in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could not reach the majority figure on its own are Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. After the BJP Working Committee meeting on 14 July 2024 in Lucknow, the political temperature of UP is high. There are also speculations about changing the Chief Minister in the state due to internal strife within the party. At the same time, assembly elections are going to be held in Maharashtra by the end of this year, due to which there has been a commotion among the ruling Mahayuti.
Talking about Uttar Pradesh, there is news of discord within the party because the state’s Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak did not attend the meeting of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. If sources are to be believed, the BJP high command is said to be angry. However, on Saturday (July 27, 2024), a meeting of the Council of Chief Ministers was held at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, in which the UP CM yogi adityanath And both the Deputy CMs had arrived.
BJP in tension in Maharashtra!
There is no good news for BJP from Maharashtra politics either. There may be a problem in the coming time regarding seat sharing in the upcoming assembly elections. Such speculations are being made due to the statements of the leaders of BJP and its alliance parties.
BJP leader said that he will contest on all the seats
BJP leader and former Union Minister Narayan Rane said on Friday (July 26, 2024) that the BJP should contest all 288 seats in the state in the assembly elections. BJP’s allies in Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP are no less. Both these parties are demanding 80 to 100 seats for themselves.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah On Sunday (21 July 2024), he reached Pune on a Maharashtra tour, where he was welcomed by CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar. The Home Minister also blew the trumpet for the assembly elections with his address at the rally in Pune.
There is no good chemistry between BJP leader and Ajit Pawar
It is also being said that Ajit Pawar has put forward the issue of seat sharing in front of the BJP high command in Delhi. It is also being discussed that Ajit Pawar’s chemistry with the BJP leaders of Maharashtra is not very good. This is because there was a heated debate between Gram Vikas Minister Girish Mahajan from BJP quota and Ajit Pawar regarding funds.
Lok Sabha Elections In 2015, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had supported BJP. In this assembly election, MNS chief Raj Thackeray has decided to contest alone. However, if he again joins the NDA, then BJP’s headache in seat sharing will increase further. BJP’s allies in Maharashtra are also touring regarding seat sharing.
Amidst these political developments, the biggest question is whether BJP will compromise on seat sharing this time and if it does, then how much. If we look at the results of the last assembly elections, out of 288 seats in the state, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena won 56 seats, Congress won 45 seats and NCP won 53 seats.
After the election results, Shiv Sena formed the government in the state along with Congress and then after half the term, they lost power due to rebellion of their MLAs. After this, there was a lot of opposition in the state. Eknath Shinde And BJP formed the government together. Since the last assembly elections, two major parties of Maharashtra have split into two factions. If media reports are to be believed, in the end only BJP can reach an agreement on seat sharing and can contest elections on about 150 seats.
