Taking major action in the case of child buying and selling in Baranti police station area of Vaishali district, the police have arrested a total of seven people including the parents of the child and sent them to jail. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police took swift action and registered an FIR against all the accused.
The matter came to light when Ghanshyam Kumar, resident of Baranti village, and his wife Reena Devi alias Pinky Devi lodged a complaint. It was told in the complaint that his two sons have been kidnapped by Virendra Rai, a resident of Ahmedpur Bariyarpur village of Rajapakar police station area in exchange for money. When the police became suspicious about this, they lodged the woman in the police station and raided the house of the accused. During this time the police arrested Virendra Rai. During interrogation it was revealed that Reena Devi had sold her son to Virendra Rai for Rs 80 thousand.
Police conducted further investigation and recovered the child from Noida. Apart from Reena Devi, Ghanshyam Kumar, Virendra Rai, Sanju Devi, Minta Devi, Sahadan Singh and Vikas Rai who were involved in this syndicate have also been arrested. Police informed that Reena Devi had earlier also sold a child for Rs 1 lakh.
The SHO of Baranti police station said that all the accused have been arrested and sent to jail and detailed investigation of the case is going on.
