Varanasi Gyanvapi Mosque: The Gyanvapi case will be heard in the Supreme Court on Monday (February 5) in Varanasi. A bench of three judges headed by the Chief Justice will hear the petition demanding scientific and technical survey of the mosque’s basement. The bench will consider 3 aspects in this matter.
These include whether the permission given by the Supreme Court to clean the tank of the washroom which was polluted due to the death of fish has been implemented or not, the petition of the Anjuman Arrangement Committee regarding the Hindu side’s case not being maintainable and opening the seal of the washroom. Demand to get a scientific survey done for that also. That too without harming a structure like Shivalinga.
However, it is up to the court in which order it will hear the case. If the court wants to hear the demand for survey of the bathroom, then it can issue a notice to the arrangement committee and ask it to respond.
Hearing on the demand to get survey done by ASI also
Apart from this, the court will hear the petition related to getting the survey done by ASI. In this petition, the demand for survey of 10 basements under the building of Gyanvapi by the Archeology of India (ASI) will be heard. The petition has also demanded a survey of the pillars present in Gyanvapi which ASI has mentioned in its report.
Permission to worship in the basement
Earlier, Varanasi District Court had given permission for worship in the basement of Gyanvapi complex. After the order of the District Court, puja is taking place in the basement, long queues are being formed to see it. The officials of Kashi Vishwanath Temple are making its arrangements in collaboration with the local administration. At present, devotees can see the basement through a jharokha (window) near the barricades installed on the border of the complex.
