After his ticket was denied from Pilibhit, BJP MP Varun Gandhi was seen campaigning for the first time on Thursday. He held a series of street corner meetings in Sultanpur, in which he became emotional repeatedly. He said that I have come to Sultanpur to campaign only for my mother. The soil here smells of my father Sanjay Gandhi. Now my mother is in Sultanpur. As my mother, this is now my motherland as well. Meanwhile, he neither took the name of BJP nor of BJP leaders.
On reaching Sultanpur in the morning, he was welcomed by his supporters. After this, he held his first public meeting in Nishad Basti of Sultanpur town. From here, he reached Motiganj, Kuchmuch, Bargadwa Madanpur Devrar, Chhapar Golwa, Majhgawan, Katghara Chiran Patti, Bera Marufpur, Saraiya Bazar, Khairaha, Kacha Bhitoura. Varun Gandhi said that he has a family relationship with Sultanpur. He has come here not as a leader but as a son.

Varun said that not just now but ever since we were born, this has been our karmabhoomi. This is our family. We love the soil here. I am confident that this time you people are going to break all records. I have no enmity with any candidate from the opposition. If the people of Sultanpur face any crisis, he will be available at all times. Some candidate is called a minister, some is called an MP. But the people here call my mother as mata ji. I have come to garner support for that same mother. Mother has served everyone like a mother without any discrimination. Sultanpur is my family and if family is the one, then it should support me in every crisis.
