Vasantrao Chavan News: Veteran Maharashtra Congress leader Vasantrao Chavan passed away, Nanded MP died during treatment


Nanded Congress MP Vasantrao Chavan: Vasantrao Chavan, Congress MP from Nanded Lok Sabha seat of Maharashtra, passed away on Monday (26 August). He was ill for the last several days. After his health deteriorated, he was admitted to Creams Hospital in Telangana’s capital Hyderabad, where he was undergoing treatment. His health deteriorated on Sunday night and he died on Monday morning. His death has caused a wave of mourning in political circles.

According to the information received, his health suddenly deteriorated at midnight. After this, he breathed his last in the hospital at 4 am on Monday. Vasantrao Chavan was having difficulty breathing, after which he was admitted to the hospital. He was also suffering from low blood pressure. Initially, when his health deteriorated, he was admitted to the hospital in Nanded. He was treated there for some time, but then on the advice of doctors, he was shifted to Hyderabad.

How was Vasantrao Chavan’s political career?

Vasantrao Chavan was counted among the veteran leaders of Maharashtra. He reached the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for the first time in 2009 by winning from Naigaon Assembly seat. He contested this election as an independent and won. After this, his political stature kept on increasing. He joined the Congress in September 2014 and before joining the party, he was appointed to the Public Accounts Committee in May itself. He also won from Naigaon seat in the 2014 Assembly elections.

Happened in 2024 Lok Sabha Elections Vasantrao won the Nanded Lok Sabha seat by 59442 votes. He defeated BJP’s Chikhlikar Prataprao Govindrao. He has been one of the few leaders of Maharashtra politics who were considered to be connected to the ground. Vasantrao Chavan became the Sarpanch of his Naigaon village for the first time in 1978. His death is being seen as a big loss for Maharashtra Congress.
