Venkatesh Prasad on KL Rahul: The poor form of Indian wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul continues unabated. KL Rahul also disappointed in the Delhi Test after the Nagpur Test against Australia, but the selectors reposed faith in the wicket-keeper batsman and picked him for the last 2 Tests as well. Although, it was believed that KL Rahul could be discharged from the last 2 Test matches against Australia, but this did not happen. However, now Team India’s former fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has lashed out at KL Rahul. Also, he has advised KL Rahul to play county cricket.
What did Venkatesh Prasad say?
Venkatesh Prasad compared KL Rahul with players like Mayank Agarwal and Ajinkya Rahane and tried to tell that the performance of these players was not that bad, but were dropped from the team. Former Indian fast bowler has also presented statistics. Although, he said that KL Rahul’s record on foreign soil is excellent, but the figures tell something else. KL Rahul crossed the century mark 6 times in 56 innings on foreign soil, while the average is around 30. At the same time, he said that KL Rahul has definitely crossed the century mark 6 times on foreign soil, but has proved to be a flop after that.
There is a view that KL Rahul has an outstanding overseas Test record. But stats speak otherwise. He has a test average of 30 overseas in 56 innings. He has scored 6 overseas centuries but followed it up with a string of low scores that’s why averaging 30. Let’s look at a few others pic.twitter.com/MAvHM01TcY

Shikhar Dhawan has the best overseas average among recent openers. Avg of nearly 40 with 5 100’s. Though he too hasn’t been consistent in Test but had Outstanding centuries in SL and NZ, plus a much better home record. pic.twitter.com/rH94R0a3A0

‘If I get a place in the playing XI in the Indore Test..’
Venkatesh Prasad said that among the current openers, Shikhar Dhawan’s record is the best on foreign soil. Shikhar Dhawan has scored 5 centuries at an average of almost 40 on foreign soil. However, there was no consistency in Shikhar Dhawan’s performance in Test matches, but he scored centuries in countries like Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Apart from this, there is a wonderful record on Indian soil. Former Indian player writes in his last tweet that KL Rahul has got a place in the team for the last two Test matches, if he gets a place in the playing XI in the Indore Test, then he should shut the mouth of critics like me. Also he said that if he fails to do so then he should play county cricket again.
